Core Ingredients

  • 2 cans chickpeas
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 medium potato
  • 2 tbsp red onion
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • 3 serranos
  • 1 tsp garam masala

Extra Ingredients

  • green sauce
  • yogurt
  • cilantro
  • tamarind chutney
  • sprinkle of tortilla chips/crackers

Instructions

  1. Microwave chopped potatoes to cook them a bit.
  2. In a medium saucepan add chickpeas, 1 cup of water, cubed potatoes and the baking soda over medium heat. Cook for about 10 minutes to soften chickpeas.
  3. When they become tender mash a few with a spoon. Add salt and chili powder.
  4. Mix into a bowl with red onion, chopped tomato, serranos and garam masala.
