Core Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 white onion
  • 8 garlic cloves
  • red chili flakes
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 (28 oz) cans whole peeled tomatoes
  • 2 large sprigs basil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter

  • Calabrian chillies

Instructions

  1. Cook the onion for 5-7 minutes in olive oil.
  2. Add garlic and red pepper flakes, cook for 3 min.
  3. Add oregano, cook for 1 more minute.
  4. Add tomato paste and cook about 3 minutes.
  5. Stir in tomatoes, immersion blend.
  6. Bring to simmer, add basil and cook for 30 minutes.
  7. Season with salt.
  8. Discard basil and add butter.
